Eye opening! This article made me realize I’m a highly sensitive parent. Things make more sense from my journey through life and as a first time mama. And explains my deeper connection and feelings at times. And dislike for noises and more! Thank you for this!

This was excellent, Jessica. I definitely think my highly sensitive traits make me a better parent and a better employee, but there are challenges and downsides, for sure. Knowing how to cope -- even if I'm not always successful at the actual coping -- helps tremendously.

Brilliant newsletter Jessica. My three year old has started shouting alot, particularly in the bath, and it drives me crazy. Makes me feel so stressed. I'm quite sensitive to noise.

super helpful stuff here! ive wondered lately if i wouldnt be much happier if i just let my kids watch a planned hour of TV every day (im very stingy about it). i think i would be a much happier person with that guaranteed time (in addition to rest time) to be off the clock, recharging and decompressing.

Sarah, this is such a good point. We've also put pretty strict limits on our kids screen time (in part, because it would often lead to meltdowns when my highly sensitive kid was a toddler). Now that both of my kids are a little older, I've also wondered about using TV more generously for my own sanity.
