Read The hour between babe and hag (New York Times) I’ve spent most of my career working in higher education, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told I “look young enough to be a student!” Never once did I consider this a compliment. Sometimes it was meant innocently (I presume), and other times it was clearly meant to be condescending. Like the one time that I was getting ready to give a presentation to the University’s Board of Trustees, and a colleague suggested that I should, instead, pretend to be a student—because I looked “so young”—and tell the Board all about the great work
Ugh, "The Hour Between Babe and Hag" really got me. What a narrow window in which we can be taken seriously and not yet considered too old and "close to retirement". I feel this acutely b/c somehow in the window when I was trying to get pregnant and actually was pregnant and had really young children, that window seems to be shutting...
The kid's backpack drawing made me laugh. "Priceless artwork" should be added (that I will put in the recycling and that will be removed whilst the child cries about how I don't care about their hard work).
“Secret scrolls” - tightly rolled pieces of printer paper with zigzags drawn on them, for the “secret club”. Who knows... I put them in the art box and when it’s full I recycle 90% of it
The backpack content is too real for me. As a mom to three boys it hits a little too close to home. Anyone actually make any money on their Pokemon cards? Seriously, we only find trash and yet they keep buying more....

I so appreciate all of the hard work you put into this newsletter and resources!
